New Contemporary Art, “Floating Apples” by NL Galbraith

This contemporary still life shows apples floating in a green glass bowl which is floating over an abstract pedestal in greens, golds, tans, and black.  It was actually fabric draped over some wooden Napa Valley wine boxes.  A small part of this acrylic painting on the lower edge was done from a cork that I carved out and used as a stamp in lieu of lace.  The fabric is bunched a little over the three bottom button legs to hide them and to give the bowl the effect of floating. With four apples in this bowl, not one apple touched the bottom, instead they held each other up, like good friends do.
