California Coastal Flight by NL Galbraith

California Coastal Flight by NL Galbraith It is so much fun to fly up and down the California Coastline where it's permitted, high above the ocean, beaches, bluffs and  rugged cliffs, and terrain changes.  On one side of the airplane you can watch the occasional pod of dolphins jumping the waves or the rare toot of a whale, or possibly spot a great white shark.  You'll also see seals sunbathing on buoys, and sometimes you might see  a perfectly spaced row of pelicans flying/soaring just above the water.   There will likely be a few pleasure or fishing boats and ships near the horizon line;  and surfers sitting out on their boards in places beyond the surf line waiting for the next big one; and all the waves beginning to roll in towards the beach.  On the other side of the airplane you can see the perfectly etched and carved coastline rising high in places with deeply eroded cliffs and bluffs.   The waves come crashing in to the beaches, sometimes over rocky terrain, sometimes crashing into the steep bluffs; some waves come in over fine sand leaving a lacey trace of its tidal motions.    Eventually the high spots give way to low lands and populated beaches when weather allows.  The northern and central coasts gives views of rugged coastal lands, huge rock formations,  heavy forestation, and other areas where trees are sparse.  There are Redwood forests,  rolling hills, beaches populated with seals, and expensive coastal properties.  The southern coast also has views of some very expensive coastal properties, plus the old Torrey Pine trees, and the edge of our country where it meets up with Mexico.  Of course you only get to see this much when the marine layer that often coats the coastline in certain locations and seasons gives way to be able to see it all.  It's exhilarating to see coastal cities and towns from the air, and areas that appear largely untouched.  By comparison, the diversity of terrain, flora and fauna,  and population is extreme in some areas.  There are so many diverse and beautiful areas in coastal California, and lots to explore.TO ORDER:  (This is an older photograph, so prints over 8"x5" will get grainier the larger it gets.  On canvas it can get a little larger before it appears grainy/pixelated.)  All prints will be a better quality than shown here with a higher resolution, and the water mark will be removed.  This…

Yosemite’s Sunset At Half Dome, Yosemite #1 in this series

Sunset At Half Dome, Yosemite #1 in this series This is an incredible and ethereal photograph of Yosemite National Park at sunset, with vibrant orange and yellow colors enveloping the sky,  kissing the tops of Yosemite's mountain peaks, including across Half Dome peak. The colors surrounded the sky - an awesome sight!   Everyone should experience Yosemite National Park at least once in their lifetime. I’m thankful to those people, such as John Muir and President Roosevelt, who fought to establish and preserve Yosemite for us to enjoy, it's an unforgettable place.  This entire series of Yosemite photographs were taken late in the 1980's-2006. TO ORDER:  All prints of this will be a better quality image with a higher resolution than shown here and the water mark will be removed.  However, the larger the photograph gets, portions of it may get a little grainey if viewing it up very close.  This can be printed on paper, on canvas, on wood, or on metal.  It can also be printed on many different items such as on t-shirts, coffee mugs, cards, throw pillows, and many more by clicking on this link -  https://pixels.com/profiles/nl-galbraith or by going to https://www.nlgalbraithfineart.com

"In every walk with Nature one receives far more than he seeks." by John Muir.

The Giant Sequoia Trees, Yosemite #6

The Giant Sequoia Trees, Yosemite #6 There are three different groves of Giant Sequoia trees in Yosemite National Park. The Mariposa Grove in Yosemite is the easiest to get to and the most visited, and it has about 500 Giant Sequoias.  It's astonishing, amazing, spectacular, massive, and stunningly beautiful.   The Merced Grove and the Tuolumne Grove are smaller and not as easy to get to than the Mariposa, but definitely are worth the hike.   "In every walk with Nature one receives far more than he seeks." by John Muir.-.   The oldest Giant Sequoia tree is estimated to be over 3,000 years old, and the tallest is estimated to be over 275 feet high (the equivalent of a 20-24 story high rise, or almost half as tall as the Prudential building in Boston.)  Standing next to a Giant Sequoia makes you feel as big as an ant by comparison.  Most people just stare at them with their jaws open in complete awe of their massiveness and incredible beauty.  This photograph is many years old.  I left the person in the photograph just so you had a better perspective of the Giant Sequoia's immense size.TO ORDER:  All prints will be a better quality and the water mark will be removed.  (FYI - This is an older photograph.  The larger prints tend to be  a little grainy the larger you go.)  You can order this printed on paper, canvas, wood, or metal; and framed or unframed.  You can also order this printed on many different items such as on t-shirts, coffee mugs, cards, large towels, throw pillows, masks, shower curtains, and many more items by clicking on this link -  https://pixels.com/profiles/nl-galbraith     or at -     https://www.nlgalbraithfineart.com

Yosemite’s Vernal Falls On The Mist Trail, Yosemite #2

Yosemite's Vernal Falls On The Mist Trail, Yosemite #2 Hiking to the falls on the Mist Trail, the hike gets louder and louder the closer one gets to the 317' drop of Vernal Falls. The wind carries the mist from the waterfalls onto the hiker's adjacent path so the steep rock hewn steps up to the falls can be slick in parts. Prepared hikers don bright yellow rain ponchos along the trail. It's a "Wow Moment" to stand so close to such a powerful force of nature. It's truly breath taking. Once one is past Vernal Falls it isn't long before arriving at the second set of waterfalls higher up the mountain, the 594' Nevada Falls. The sound of both of the falls can be deafening and exhilarating, and they will leave you in awe of the power of nature.  Rainbows often appear over both of the falls.   This photograph is just a small 20' tall section of the Mist Trail abutting Vernal Falls. I am forever thankful for those people like John Muir and President Roosevelt, who fought to establish and preserve Yosemite National Park (and other national parks) so future generations could enjoy it and soak it all in, too.  It is an amazing national park that everyone should see at least once in their life.  It will get into your heart, and change your perspective. TO ORDER:  All prints will be a better quality and the water mark will be removed.  You can order copies of this photograph on paper, or canvas, or metal, or wood.   You can also order this photograph on numerous products such as on t-shirts from toddler to adult sizes, on cards, stationary, face masks, yoga mats, coffee mugs, and on many more products by clicking on this link -   https://pixels.com/profiles/nl-galbraith  It reminded me of this Bible verse: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own insight. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3: verses 5-6."  You can also order this through https://www.nlgalbraithfineart.com without the Bible scripture if you prefer, by sending us a note.  We can print something else in that spot if you prefer (G rated of course). *A portion of the profits from sales of the "Yosemite" series will be donated to help parents with the early identification of teenage mental illness, and the different modalities for treatment and help.
